Chris,
That plastic that Habitat uses comes from a place that makes it for agricultural use. Apparently they're the only company that produces the stuff that Habitat uses. I considered trying to build some cages with the same material but decided against it for many reasons. We have some Habitat cages at the WDC, but looking at them and the stuff I've seen at shows - for the materials and construction methods, they're WAY overpriced. The joints on the front are mitered and then fastened using a plastic plate that looks like similar material to FRP board and the whole thing is attached with pop rivets. It has a very cheap, slapped together look to it. The only thing I find good about them is that the material seems to work well for large size cages. But then again, judicious use of square aluminum tubing and some Sintra and you could probably acheive the same results with a nicer looking end product and probably cheaper. ----- Matt Campbell
