Couldnt have said it better myself....

Now talking about misssed oppurtunities in a sense....

the first two motleys sat at strictly reptiles for over 2 years.
At a measly price of 3k for both.
No one bought them, not mark bell, not doug beard, not me, not anyone.
They were "temperature" defects tht caused that patterning, lol.

I was interested in them but hell, I was still in high school and 3k was alot of money. I opted not to save up for them, and bought some ball pythons, wc at that.

Then Ron St. Pierre came in with loads of wc cuban knight anoles , sold them to strictly and then bought the motleys.

Man, talk about getting a motley for some anoles!! Kind of weird isn't it????

Sadly Ron was allergic to rats, and sold off his snake collection.

Everything comes with time and patience. The biggest mistake people make in this biz, is they see numbers and assume its that easy. It is easy but you have to learn how to make it easy first.
Once you got a routine, a idea on how things work for YOUR animals, then you can surely buy a motley in the future by breeding cornsnakes, or regular colombians.

Alot of big breeders like the sutherlands, mark bell, bill brant, etc, all started by breeding colubrids, then moved to burms or misc boas like argentines, hogg islands, etc.....then invested in the newer higher up snakes once they had the capital and the know how....

I think it would be dumb for someone who has owned a female colombian boa, never bred it, to just simply go out because they got the money and buy a motley and raise it to breed that female colombian. Then get all digruntled witht he fact that it didnt work because they had no real sense or experience of know how, and dump it on kingsnake to get some of their money back.
Alot of people also get disgruntled with the fact that they paid 15k for a motley and they are now 10k (an example), in my opinion tat is a whole nother story, but they then dump it thinking the "market is falling"......

As always back to main subject, got a little carried away, Patience is a virtue.
