Well I'm not nearly as experienced as most of the other here but that's exactly how I feed Dagon. Primarily it's because I knew that's how they'd been feeding him at the shop. The shop gave me the exact same enclosure (just a box) that they had used for all his feedings.

The 2 benefits of this have been...

1) He never strikes at my hand when I reach into his tank because he's never had food in there with him.

2) Because the box was his normal eating environment, he successfully fed on just his second day home.
