You should make it as large as possible. Whoever says otherwise is misinformed. Some will argue that with hatchlings, a small enclosure should be used so they can feel 'secure'. I happen to disagree even with that as long as there are a couple of small hides in the enclosure (for a hatchling that is). But in this case since its an 8footer, go the largest you can.
