I haven't had my cham. for long but I got mine very small also. He has shed twice in the past month and it takes him about 5-8 hours to shed it all off completly. I have seen him rub his head when there is skin stuck on it from him sheding. From what I have read there is no real set time for them to shed but, I would guess that they will shed more often when they are younger then when they are an adult due to there rapid growth rate. Hope this helps, im sure that the other more experienced guys will be able to help you better
