Last year I hatched out quite a few albino clutches and in every case I was able to tell the albinos from the hets by candling the eggs 2 -3 weeks before. It gets much more difficult once the eggs start to collapse though.

It's always nice to candle eggs from a poss het and see albinos!

Last year I had my largest het albino female (once a poss het) lay nine huge eggs. When I candled them I saw albinos in in 3 of them. When they started to hatch I cut the rest open and discovered that in fact 3 of the eggs had albinos in them. One of the albinos came out and the other two were lagging well behind. Several days later I gave the one a little poke and I say no movement. It was huge and almost brimming out of the top. After several more pokes I discovered that it was dead. When I pulled it out I was shocked to see another albino right below it in the same egg. It was dead as well and not as developed as the first one. My attention then shifted to the other egg where another albino was stalling. A poke later I discovered another dead albino. And wouldn't you know it...right below it was another albino ...dead as well! What are the odds??? Two sets of twin albinos!

I hope you don't mind me sharing this story. Sometimes you hit some bumps in the road.

Good luck and there are 3 albinos in those eggs! LOL!
