I have 2 tarantulas - Natasha is a goliath birdeaterLasiodora parahybana and my little no name is a 7 or 8 year old Chilean Rose Hair. I recently adopted them from someone who couldn't care for them. I also had Rose, my pinktoe Avicularia avicularia. I don't handle Tasha as she simply will not tolerate it, but I do sometimes handle "no name", a much more docile species. Rose was great but very fast so I usually let her be (too many places she could have scooted to).

The ones I have now are earht dwellers/burrowers but the avic was arboreal and needed a more humid enclosure.



A great forum to help you make a decision is the ATS (American Tarantula Society) at yahoo. Many T keepers also keep scorpions and there are VERY knowledgeable folks there. Stanley Schultz, who literally wrote the book on keeping tarantulas, is a frequent poster.
