RE: breeding snakes

It doesn't really matter that much, however most people move the males to the female's cage. The reason is that males are usually the more "aggressive" gender in the mating process and will actively seek out a female if they are placed in her cage. Females don't as actively seek out males. I usually see mating faster if I put him in her cage.

However, you do have to use some common sense. Some female snakes (Hognosed snakes come to mind) are such voracious eaters that introducing him into her cage could be construed as a meal offering. In cases like this, I will sometimes move them to neutral ground or move her.
