If she keeps digging trial holes you may need to reassess the setup. If the substrate isn't right (moist and holding a tunnel) or the depth, she may reject it - this could cause real problems, but the fact that she is trying, well let's hope she finally settles on one! Luna has never dug trial holes and totally ignores the tub until the minute she is ready, whereas others speak of other habits. John, from Cham Paradise posted a pic of a female that laid in a very potbound plants. He had to cut away the side to get the eggs out! So it is a very personal (cham) thing!
As for water/cleaning. i have to say, I am always a but amazed at how clean Luna get herself! not quite sure how unless she just rubs a lot on her way back up to bask. Depending on your cham, you may want to shower her a couple days after (if she is OK with it) to help with hydration. She will be OK for the time so don't bother with water. I find that Luna is a bit pissy for the first 12-24 hours after she's done - can't really blame her.
I would lightly dust (don't over do it) with the rep-cal Ca/D3 and gutload your feeders with high calcium foods, like Kale as well as other high quality fruits, veggies and dry gutload. Did you say you had gotten silkies? I fed her almost exclusively silkies for as long as she would take them (she gets very picky!)
Here is a great site for high calcium foods. It is color coded for easy reference. Ca Nutrition
