Posted by: Johnantny at Tue Apr 12 13:24:54 2005 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by Johnantny ] these are varanus salvator... asian water monitors. some populations become black at the onset of adulthood. togianus, andamanensis, and komeini are the 3 recognized latin names for 3 different dark colored water monitor populations. these "black dragons" are malaysian in origin, v.s. komeini. marketing them as something new is a sales gimmick to sell them. in terms of behavior, or scalation, or any history has yet to prove these are anything but salvator. -john | ||
