I own it, and use it. While I am experienced, I still read these "beginner" manuals because sometimes, what you are calling, "curiosities", or nothing more than beginner facts which we have forgotten about.

I use my books from time to time, when I cant recall something basic.

If nothing else, it's and easy read, and something you can read through while sitting down with a cup of coffee.
