Ca. Which I am sure you know is coastal. We had a hard time reaching the higher ambient temperatures that we currently are able to reach back here in AZ. It made me uncomfortable, and we had to use alternative heating just for our snake room. If you are coastal, you may want to rethink keeping him in the garage. If you are inland, it may even get to hot here in a month or so......just my $.02
