Bernie did a good job with No Name. I came home yesterday and Noname looked well hydrated and was actively looking for food outside, getting lots of sunshine, looking no worse for the wear. Bernie left the job of digging for the eggs to me. I very carefully went through all 50 lbs of moist sand, looking for the nest, plus any strays that might have gone astray. Found 33 pearly white eggs tucked neatly away at the VERY bottom of the trash can in a 'corner' (the can is round so no real corner, but it was between the handle indent and the wall).
I've heard lots of bad things about vermiculite lately, and I thought perlite would dry too fast, so I decided to use plain ole moist sand from the laying chamber, rather than simply toss it out.
Being I had the best success with this method, I will be incubating the eggs in a nice dark corner of my closet. It took about 9 months last time, but the babies had a high hatch rate and very good size right out of the egg, and a high survival rate.
