I will not claim to be a expert, but I probably have more experiance with Peruvians, than any other local that I have worked with. In the early to late 90s, I had one of the nicest collection of Peruvians around and I use to think that there was a difference between Pucallpa and Iquitos Peruvians and later on, I found out differently. I had some Peruvians that came from the first and second shipment that came in from Ryan Richards Iquitos Farm " Arco International " some of those animals were later sold to Mark Domico and he has produced great with them and posts pics of them frequently. They were the real deal Iquitos and all had either good or very strong connecting patterns. The rest of my collection " outside of one bloodline " came from the Tim Eaton animals that were illegally brought in many years ago and I got alot of those from my friend Scott Michaels and I had some of Jeff Ronnies very best in his group. These animals were supposedly Pucallpa Peruvians, they had floating saddles and were much more yellow than the more bronze or gold and connecting pattern Iquitos. After alot of investigation and talks with some of my friends that new Tim Eaton and these guys are veterans in this Hobby for over 30yrs, I came to find out, that the Tim Eaton animals were in fact from Iquitos and definately not from Pucallpa. I have a good friend that was born and raised half of his life in Iquitos Peru and he says that there is no difference between the two locals and Pucallpa has become more plains and farm land over the last 20-25 years. In essence; " You will find connecting patterns in both regions and floating patterns in both regions and yellow color in both regions and bronze and gold color in both regions. " I have made this statement many times; " If you can track the exact locals of your Peruvians and know it to be fact, then by all means keep the locals straight, but if not, a Peruvian is a Peruvian is a Peruvian and simply breed for the physical characteristics that you like best. Trying to make a difference in an Iquitos Peruvian and a Pucallpa, is like trying to compare Guyanas from Georgetown to Guyanas from New Amsterdam. Gus, may or may not agree, but if he disagrees, I beg to differ with him and I have a enormous amount of respect for Gus and share most of his philosophies on certain locals, but not all. Hope that this helps....GOD BLESS.......Johnson Herp
