My JCP has no problem going from chicks to rodents but she won't touch rats so I guess they can be picky. At this point, if it were me and you could get it to take rats I would stick with that. I have to feed mine almost 20 mice a feeding. It gets expensive. I do know of a dealer who has a couple that got stuck on chicks though and had to use chicken broth to bring them back to rodents.
