It depends on the size of your cage. I only use humidifiers for my Quads, and they are in free ranges, but I put the humidifier right in the middle of the free range. The room is rather humid to begin with, but I sometimes catch them in the trees above the humidifier rehydrating themselves. So I would put it in the cage to answer your question, unless you have a large and powerful enough humidifier that can make the room (and the cage) humid enough for your cham. My humidifiers aren't very "strong" as they can make the surrounding air humid, but only increase the entire rooms humidity slightly. Thats just my opinion, and thats how I do it, though others may do it differently.
