anything else that gets too hot because of it, and (2) you don't exceed the capacity of the surrounding materials to absorb heat. IOW, you don't melt the fixture, burn melamine, etc., etc.



Those things DO get really hot...hot enough to heat metal that's close by to the point that it will burn you.
