There are a few university research articles on proper methods of killing rodents. All articles mention that killing rats larger than 200g by dislocating their spine (aka "cervical dislocation," where you pin the rats head with a ruler or bar and yank its tail) is NOT ethical; large rats have big neck muscles and it is physically difficult to make a clean break. Freezing is also considered inhumane unless you have liquid nitrogen. [ Hide Replies ]
