Kay what b22 mentioned is accurate, and it does happen if mineral levels are low, but something I experienced once was a dragon who had a cut/lesion in the mouth who had started to bite, and use cage furniture to itch, scratch the inside of the mouth.
If you have been using calcium, and vitamin supplements regularly inspect the inside of the mouth, and make sure there isn't a larger problem brewing in his mouth such as mouth rot or infection that is causing this behavior.
