question about my new beardy

ive been keeping lizards for a long time but just got a beardy last weekend at a herp show.it is 3 months old.i have it set up with a uv bulb and a 100 watt bulb over one side of the cage.sand as a substrate and a water dish and branch for basking.

although i dont know what it means when his stomach turns dark and light.sometimes it will be dark and other times it is white.if some one could give me an answer i would greatly appreciate it.also what do you think about feeding beardeds mealworms.the lady i bought him from told me never to feed them to mealworms.thanks for your time.
