Glad that I can reverse that subject title from Sunday's post. This morning was marvelous and I appreciated it all the more after Sunday's total loss. Healthy baby boas are truly something to be appreciated.



This one actually had a very ominous beginning. Rosy was due on Saturday. Sunday night she was very active and was obviously preparing for birthing. I stayed up late sitting in front of the cage. With the beginning of my school day getting ever closer, I decided to get some sleep fully expecting to awaken to a beautiful litter of babies. Alarm goes off.....I immediately go upstairs to check. I peer into the cage and see nothing. I attend to getting myself and the kids ready for school and then something made me take another look into the cage. I look closer and I see a SINGLE BABY staring back at me. I pull it out of the cage and its stillborn. What's worse is that Rosy is obviously laboring. My first thought is that she is bound up with slugs. I go to school and worry. I get home and still no babies. She looks to be struggling. What should I do? I decide to give her one more night. I awaken on Tuesday and find 15 large babies and 4 unfertilized. I took Rosy out to give her a check and she was fine. Weighed in at 12 lbs post-birthing. Check out the parents. These should develop into gorgeous adults. Rosy is my queen. I bought her from Jim Peters on my first trip to the Daytona show back in 2000. In my current collection, she has seniority. At 6 years old, this is her first litter. I have included a couple photos. More photos at the link below.
