A while back someone else posted pastel het axanthics that looked the same (low yellow – especially for a pastel). So do just plain het axanthics (not also pastel) from this line tend to look low yellow or does it only come out with the combo with pastel? Now I'm wishing my possible double het snow had less yellow.



Some of my 50% chance het ghost girls are really nice looking and I've even seen and heard about a couple cases of het ghosts shedding clear.



Confusing stuff. Is it being het for these supposed "recessive" genes that is causing this or something else? In both cases (especially the ghost but even the axanthic) it's possible that what we are seeing in the hets could be caused by other genes that have been bred into the lines over the years. Over the years ghost breeders probably selected some really nice bright ghost like "normals" to breed into their projects and likewise axanthic breeders may have selected some really nice low yellow "normals". Some of these where probably genetic even if not stunning enough to become there own morph line. Maybe some of these genes could even be dominant types and be responsible for the low yellow axanthic hets and low black ghost hets seen from time to time.



Then again, given the sporadic nature of the het pied marker, maybe there aren't many 100% recessive genes and it really is the ghost and axanthic gene showing through some times.
