Sounds like you have plenty of ventilation so you should leave the windows closed if you use a swamp cooler in conjunction with AC.



However, I'm sure you can play around and create a vertical gradiant for the species you keep with the AC only. Some of your species may require a bit of supplemental heating but that's easy.



Start with just the AC and see what kind of gradiant you achieve. You could possible use a ceiling fan or something to increase the vertical gradiant.



So I doubt a homemade swamp cooler will be necessary.







Thanks for the input. The evaporative cooler sounds like a good idea. I don't know much about thermodynamics. If I use an evap cooler should i leave the windows open or closed? The shed has 2 vents at the ceiling level. i also thought about freezing several 2 or 3 liter bottles of water and blowing a fan over them towards the cages (of course i would have to experiment a bit to get the temps right)I recently put my montane species (Pituophis Deppei deppei) on the floor where it gets a bit cooler so they may be a be ok until the end of the month. The only others i keep are Mex kings and a rosy boa
