Well, seeing as how I didn't say whether it was or not, but rather that someone should be a little more reluctant to jump to a definitive up/down determination, he and I aren't necessarily diametrically opposed. It isn't necessarily an either/or proposition. Most certainly, if Toshi keeps the snake, his hopes for it will certainly be appropriately colored by these opinions. In person, I'm sure I'd view Eric, Jared, or Neil's opinions on ID's with tons more credibility. As I see it, though, people who've worked as hard as they have to establish fairly solid reputations aren't thinking very clearly when they put those very same reputations on the line so readily. Sooner or later, it WILL come back and bite them. It's unprofessional. In business, that's a weakness. Corporate America is like a school of sharks...when they smell weakness, they come in droves! Personally, I'd hate to see that happen. Hopefully, we'll learn before it does.

Some alternatives to "that's just a normal":

"Compared to all of my proven het. ivories, I don't think yours is very convincing."

"In my experience, I wouldn't get my hopes up too much for that snake."

"Hmmmm...I don't know." (I'd probably respect this one the most)
