Please refer to my Cageing answer posted above for general information on Boa caging, but to answer your specific question about a cage for life he is my advice on that. I use 6' long x 2' wide by 12" high cages from Jeff Ronne for my adult boas. Jeff Does not make six foot long cages, but he does make 4 foot long and 2 foot long that can be combined through an expanded end. So you can order the 2 x 2 x 12" cage for you snake as a baby and when it reaches the 3-4 foot long mark you can add on the 4 x 2 x 12" addition and have a cage that will suite your boa for life. Just tell Jeff (or Joel his partner) what you want to be able to do and they will hook you up!.
At this point it should be noted that no, I do not get a kick back or paid for reccomending Jeff's cages. I just call'em as I see'em
