Yeah supposedly for "terrorist" investigations, Ive thought about being an expat myself, Belize seems stable enough and its still attainable!
In CA. we already have/had bans in place for quite awhile, exotic permits are issued but you have to be a celebrity to get one ($$$)Gilas require permitting and cinctum are just plain not available to the citizen because the sp. has a few isolated pop. along the Nevada border and occurs in the state.
Native crotalus are allowed but thats it, nothing else, unless you have an exotic permit ($300) than you can have non-natives. I personally only work with crotes and helos so I dont really mind the limitations that much, I am happy to get the permits I have and ask for no more since I know all too well how backwards our state and federal governments can be.
It is really too bad, on one hand I believe we should have the right to own a mamba, bitis or whatever starts your motor, but on the other, I see posts from people about hots and I think to myself how happy I am that that person is not MY neighbor. My biggest fear is that someone nitwit will use a venomous snake as a murder weapon against a politician or celebrity and THAT WILL BE THAT NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I know its been done before between average citizenry, but get a "NAME" involved and were done.
My warped perspective anyways...
