Posted by: pythonis at Mon Jun 13 00:39:18 2005 [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by pythonis ] i use repti bark in 6 of my 8 snake tanks. the only problems that ive had with it is that its a pain in the butt to clean and the substrate will stick to the feeder sometimes. i have reptibark in with my coastal carpet and it doesnt affect her any. she does hiss a lot when i get her out but she has always done that, regardless of what substrate i use. i was looking into maybe getting some of the aspen bedding for her but they (the mfg) recommends feeding in a seperate tank because swallowing the substrate can be harmful. i would say that the only sure and safe substrate would be newspaper because its easy to replace but when it gets wet the ink gets all over the snake. this doesnt harm the snake but it is an eyesore.
