Well, the stuff I got is textured with raised lines going in one direction only. It's not like it's sandpaper or anything. But if you saw something similar, you probably know what I'm talking about. I layed that down on my cage floor, and then covered the liner with paper towels. The paper towels are easy to change and take care of all the poop; the liner is there to protect anything underneath (because the bottom of my cage happens to be plywood) just in case something breaks the paper towel layer.
