Personally, I have NEVER tried that. I only had one turtle in all my years with an eye problem, it was given to me that way. After a week of warm soaking in a mix of gatorade & water, (I also added some vitamins in it too), warm temperature, and seclusion, It was success. If the diet is right & conditions are kept proper, very few illnesses should hit your colony. I would also separate it & put it in its own place. For your sake & the turtles, separate it. Good luck.
