Hello. I had (in my mind) the most beautiful brazilian rainbow in the world. I had her from when she was a foot long to over six feet long. I fed her one day and saw that she had a few bubbles coming out of her nose, but she was feeding, so I figuered that it was just a respritory infec. and that I had caught it early enough, so no big deal. I medicated her, did everything you're supposed to do and about 2 weeks later she wasn't blowing bubbles and she was active. 2 days later I found her dead. I was soooo devistated. I gave her a proper burial, even planted a big red rose bush over her(which is growing great).
So at the time all this happened I worked at a pet store where everyone had BRB too. I said she had died, and I hear that four other people had lost BRB within the last 2 months, but no other boas had gotten sick. So my question is...well, questions; I know for a fact that mine was extremely well cared for and I thought it was odd that she would catch a respritory infec, unless I brought it home one day, but even wierder that it could kill her, so all I can think it could be is IBD. Is IBD that infectious that you can spread it like a virus, like, carry it around on you for a long time?? Also, has anyone heard of a strain that only effects BRB?? None of my other boas got sick at all, just her and my friends'. Has anyone heard of this??
The 2nd part of my question is that I have heard that boas have the ability to beat IBD. I was always told that once a reptile catches or developes IBD it's a death sentance. Any info anyone?? Sorry for the long sad story, didn't to bring the mood down!!
