I wouldn't jump to any conclusions that it was IBD and if you thought it might be IBD you should have taken the animal to a Vet for necropsy.



If I had to guess which in this case I do lol I'd say it was just the RI that killed your snake . It's possible that you and your co workers were were playing RI Mary and carrying it home to your animals. I've seen WC Emeralds that I was treating for RI seem to get better then I'd find them dead. By the way what did you use to treat the RI with?



IBD is a very serious disease I'd say the most serious disease in the Boid world. It is easily transmitted and as you put it a death sentence to any Boid that gets it. If you do a search on IBD you can find out more info. Often the animals show signs of RI or other ailments but usually towards the end you see the animal lose control of its nervous system, flops around, star gazes(looks up in the air) though many animals do this when waiting for food IBD snakes do it more often. If you turn the animal upside down it has trouble righting its self ETC ETC.



Like I said if I had to guess I'd say it didn't have IBD as other Boids would be at risk as well. it takes a while to manifest its self in Boas but kills Pythons rather quickly. It is strange that only BRBs died. Did all of you use the same type of husbandry ? What were the symptoms the others had before they died?
