I've only been bitten a couple of times by chameleons, both times I was asking for it, both times I got PLENTY of warning, both times it was completely my fault. It was of a surprise than a pain thing the first time. The second time I was explaining to a future chameleon owner about how docile they normally are and how they give you plenty warning before they bite:
Me: Now, notice how this lil guy here quickly changed his colorations to almost black and how he's puffing himself up? He's not too happy. Oh! Look how he has his mouth open? That means he's not at all happy and wants.... YIKES!
*showing smallish bite impression to future chameleon owner*
And that's EXACTLY what you don't want to do if you want to avoid being bitten by your chameleon....

>>The only problem is I have cat quick reflexes. My normal reaction when he bites is to pull away really fast. I don't want to injure him! The first time he bit me he came with my hand when I pulled away! ----- Victor Gomez
