Dennis Sargent first named his Roatan locality specific boas - FireBelly Boas due to their bright orange bellies. Unfortantely Dennis sold off his original breeders a while ago. Several of those who got them, kept the lines pure, others interbred them with main land Hondurans ... which some folks are now also calling "Fire Bellies" as they also have a degree of brigt orange underbelly. Without knowing the exact bloodline its impossible & incorrect to call a particular snake a Roatan FireBelly ... just as it would be to call a snake a Corn Island, Crawl Cay or any other locality specific boa just because it looked like one but you didn't have any breeding data. Personally I think its highly unlikey (though not impossible of course)that you would pick up a pure Roatan in a pet store ...but stranger things have happened. Your best bet would be to get a mainland Honduran and match them up. [ Hide Replies ]
