The founding stock for this hybrid came from extremely good lines for both species. The colors that are showing, especially the apricot influence has got to be from these exclusive line bred genes. But with all the color influences from these two bloodlines, plus the albino gene, it is really hard to say if they were just run of the mill specimens used to create the Imperial would it still produce the vibrant reds? In my opinion, no.
I've attached two pictures, one from a banded female Imperial breeding a male redback, and then two bi-color imperials who have much more muted tones. When these two specific clutches hatch I will re-post the pictures with each of their offspring. I think you'll get the same types and colors from both breedings. You may not get the same number of different types though. For example we bred a redback male to a red-leopard female and got two red-backs in that clutch. Hopefully we'll prove out some line breeding this year.
We will definitely know more by the end of this season. We've kept meticulous breeding records, photographs, and we've been able to do some line breeding as well. We are going to release a huge information page on the new website, http://designerserpents.com within the month.
The site is up, but it is not complete. I keep changing graphics to do these animals justice.
