That is exactly what happened to my first clutch.

Mine made it...but,i had discovered the problem within the first two weeks.

How long have his been cooking?



Here is a shot of mine,(still in the old eggbox).I had the "bright idea" to use rubberized shelf liner.(It sank!)





Here is what i did to correct the problem.(Thanks again JP )

(The pic above is actually of my second clutch)



In this shot not only can you see a few of the waterlogged eggs...It also shows how the perlite is actually floating above the water.Yet allows the humidity to travel throughout the eggbox.



It is used in commercial florescent lighting,and it is actually called "eggcrate". You can find it in a Home Depot or whatever home improvement chain you have near to you.



...and yes..it worked!

All eight hatched out,(this is number seven to come out).
