this is not a good thing  I recall some suggestions from the past is to think like a chameleon. He will likely go "up' and if you take a flashlight at night you may find him. Look for his light green sleeping color, start at the top of trees/shrubs and work your way down (get several people with several lights if possible. Was he in a cage? on a tree? If you know about where he was when he wandered off he will possibly be in a tree close by. If he was on the ground he might have traveled a longer disatance, so anything you can relate to where he was may help you, too.
