This year every male I tried my speckled king with either wasn't interested or seemed downright afraid of her. Tricking the males didn't work. Their ardor cooled right down when I took out the decoy females. Except for the female I wasn't quick enough to prevent the male from mating. Now I have an unmated speckled king and a clutch of eggs I really didn't want.
