And regarding "acid rain," I do not know whether this region of Texas receives low pH rain, but I have kept C. calypratus during the early summer outside, and some of my other lizards (like my Crotaphytus) stay out most of the year. The Mt. Merus only come out when the weather allows, and they don't seem to mind exposure to the rain. In fact, they "seem" to prefer that as opposed to my daily misting.
I would also imagine that it would take a lot of "acidic" rain to affect the animals.
