Holding Snappers by the Tail

Since at least 1 person in this group got really upset about me telling him not to hold snapping turtles by the tail, I was curious how the rest of the group feels.



Im specifically talking about common snapping turtles over 5 inches long (shell length).



It is my understanding that holding a common snapping turtle by the tail will cause some kind of spinal injuries. Whenever I hold a snapping turtle, I always support it with my hand on the bottom of the shell.
