They are very simple to keep if you have access to any kind of fresh water fish. then you can scent rodents, bla bla bla. Just go to http://www.freewebs.com/mikesnake/garterswaters.htm and if you have any more questions ask them. If you can't take care of it, it would be best to release it soon. but they are very easy to keep and more fn than other snakes to me.
