Although they're not in tip-top shape, they don't look too bad, either. Xantholopus can weather some extreme conditions; hopefully they'll regain their full health soon under your care.
Very nice yellows on the male. Do you know if these are wild caught? Just from the size of them and coloration, my impression is that these are WC Hawaiian Jacksons. Is the female gravid? I'm willing to bet that she more than likely is.
I haven't had Jacksons in a couple years now, but my experience with them is that they like cooler temps and LOTS of humidity. I used to keep my Jacksons with my bonsai. I would water my bonsai constantly, which made the Jacksons VERY happy.
My VERY first experience with chameleons was with Jacksons when I lived in Hawaii. I knew NOTHING about their care. The neighborhood kids would just bring some over that they would find. I had a very rickety home made cage in my backyard where I would keep them, made from 1x1 wood covered in aluminum screen. I would put in fresh branches from my banyan tree in with them once a week. Their food would be bugs (mostly roaches) that I would flush out of my yard! Sometimes the females would give me babies, which I would release into my trees and bushes as quickly as I could. I never used calcium supplements, I never used powdered vitamins. I definitely didn't gutload the bugs! I would just scoop them up into the cage by the fistfuls! I accidentally fed a scorpion to them once like this but I wouldn't try this at home! ----- Victor Gomez
