introducing breeding food items

I posted earlier in a responce but I decided to post again so I can get some more experiances.

I introduced springtails to my vivarium, which exploded into a massive population, and then was sent back to underground life by my frogs. I feed my frogs d. heide, d. melanogaster, termites, and flower beetle larvae. They also eat the springtails in my vivarium, which have decreased in population. What other food items have people introduced into their vivariums that breed on their own and won't effect plants or animals in the vivarium?
