Pardon me, but before you go handing advice out, I believe you should have a clue what you're talking about. 4x2x2 (or at least 18 in. high) is the MINIMUM required, and is not "huge" cage. The 36"x18"x17" that the thread starter has is NOT sufficient for an adult nor is a 36x18x20. Sure, some dragons may not be active ALL the time, but give them the room, and they will explore every inch and enjoy it too. Would you be inclined to explore a CLOSET? Because with that size tank, that's pretty much what it is. I am in no way ripping on the original poster as he/she was just asking a legitimate question, but I really don't think that people should be giving erroneous advice when they haven't a clue.
Tandrag, definitely go with the larger cage. You'll have more room to work with for designing the tank and your beardie will appreciate it, too. 
Definitely listen to PHLdyPayne, as she is a moderator of this forum, I believe she is more qualified to answer your question than Mr. KingGeorge.
