This may or may not be true, but someone once told me that they had a 4' colombian swallow a rat backwards and the tooth caught the lining of the throat and sliced a small opening that lead to the death of the snake.
Personally I have never experienced a problem with it, but I always think about what that person said when I watch them swallow their food backwards. Seems possible, but on account of that being the only time I have ever heard it mentioned, I highly doubt it will happen. ----- 2.3 Salmon Boas
