What did I buy at the Daytona Show?

...I was not intending to buy any animals at the show. A friend had a pair of very very skinny Argentinian Rainbows on his table that needed to be saved so I bought them. I do not need the male but had to take him to get the female. I will fatten the female up and make sure she is okay over the next five months and hopefully have her ready to introduce to my "pet" male ARB this coming season. The new male will live a life of luxury here for awhile and then have to go earn his keep elsewhere. They both ate a fat rat pup each this evening.

....It was a great show. We vendors were afraid that after the hurricane problems last year and lower than expected sales the year before that this show might not continue to be the biggest and the best. The crowd came back as big as ever. Sales seemed to go pretty well for most vendors. The wholesalers and dealers were eager to buy wholesale lots of BRBs. I could have sold a bunch more of them if I had had them. There has been a many years long waiting list for new vendors for this show. Quite a few vendors did not renew for this year and so there were many new vendors at the show.

...There were lots of exciting animals to see. IMO Ricardo's Amelanistic Colombian Rainbows were the rarest and most exciting animals at the show. I heard several rumors about someone working with amelanistic Brazilian Rainbows. Several people seem to be close or are now producing anerythristic BRBs. I did not see any at this show. I have seen a few of them at past shows and they are very interesting. Bryan Hummel had a Hypo BRB and several hets at his table. These really are beautiful snakes. Bryan has some fantastic large format photos of BRBs. His full color handout is outstanding. His baby normal BRBs are very nice. John (sorry I can never remember his last name) from East Bay Vivarium told me he is expecting a couple litters of Hypo BRBs soon. Brian Sharp has Anerythristic BRBs and Amelanisitc CRBs on his new pricelist. He had his Calico/Piebald male BRB on display again this year. Paul Mitchell had several pretty adult BRBs for sale including an abberant "tiger" pattern one. Several vendors had baby BRBs for sale. I talked to David Fabius from Uraguay. He now has an Epicrates cenchria hygrophilus but has been unable to find a mate for it. He is going to breed it to a BRB if he does not find a mate for it soon. AFAIK this is the only hygrophilus in the hands of a private breeder.
