Decided to go herping today. Headed out at around 4:30 P.M. Temps in the mid 80s, a little wind. Alot earlier than when I usually go, usually don't find anything this early.



Traveled along the side of a road for about 20 minutes, found nothing but a neonate shorthead garter snake. Went to another spot nearby, under the first board I lifted I came across an adult 13" northern brown snake and a neonate eastern garter snake. Lifted probably about 10 more boards and found nothing.



Started moving around a couple carpets. Found an adult 15" shorthead garter snake, a neonate shorthead garter snake and an adult 10" northern brown snake out in the open, interesting there. Upon moving a black garbage bag I found another neonate shorthead garter snake.



Off to another spot. Flipped over some shingles, found a nice pair of adult northern brown snakes. Started lifted some more boards. Found 2 neonate shorthead garter snakes packed with nice meals of worms. Along with another neonate shorthead under a board nearby. Lifted a couple more boards, and some pieces to a cabinet. Under a piece to a cabinet, I found something I simply have never found in over 15 years of herping in this area. An adult female five lined skink.



It's a cool find to me. Just because it's because of me that I found it lol. About maybe 5 months ago I got a couple scarlet kingsnakes, and a friend of mine sent me some skinks to use for scenting and such. Well after failing with the kings, I let the remaining skinks go, 1.1 five lined skinks. And today, I find the female, nearly 300 feet from where I let them go, and she went from 4" to probably about 8".
