Besides appearance, because you're not going to be dissappointed with either one try to make the decision on other factors.
One factor for breeding you be appetite. I know with some calkings I've had are just mice disposals and will never refuse a mouse in shed or at any other time. The calkings are the ones that get fed last and do the clean-up for any other snakes that may refuse due a shed. This feeding repsonse could be crucial to your future breeding with a female thayeri, a mouse disposal type feeder is always going to be less stressful and easier to maintain and keep healthy. Another factor could be temperment, which some straight of the egg are tolerant of handling. Making it easier clean, feed, water, and handle.
Chris I know you already are aware of this, but I just wanted to point out don't focus on appearance alone when choosing this long term thayeri breeder take into account some other factors.
Good luck because I know I would keep them all,
Uncloudy
Chris
