Peat is more organic than sand and should pass easyer but the risk is still there. One thing though, if your wetting the peat down I would be worryed about respirtory infections with your leo, as that is alot of moisture for a leo, also the thing about organic substrates is that bacteria grows carzy in them, esspecially if it is moist.
