Houston in October can be good. Temperatures will be down by then to highs in the mid 70s or low 80s. Nights are cooler so stuff can be found under trash like in the spring. If it is warm enough you can probably still roadhunt in the evening as well.

Copperheads will be moving in large numbers and October is a good month to find Coralsnakes.
