My male has stopped calling at all. When I first got him I think I heard him once. A few weeks ago I played a Tokay recording which always causes a stir of curiosity, and about 3 minutes after I stopped the recording my male let out his call with me sitting about 4 ft. from him. Made me jump. never have heard him call again though. Females as well as males will watch over the eggs. If you have more than one female, all will watch them. I've also had a few eggs eaten by females?? Tokays will normally watch over and protect their young, that doesn't mean another female or one of the parents wont eat him though. I havent had that happen, yet. keep them well fed.
